YOUTH CLIMATE AMBASSADORS
Yayasan Peta Bencana’s “Youth Climate Ambassadors” program builds a network of climate prepared youth leaders across Indonesia and the Philippines.
Impact to date:
The youth climate ambassador program has demonstrably scaled disaster awareness and preparedness in a manner that is highly contextualized, hyper local, and attendant to the specificities of the varying cultures and geographies across Indonesia. The program has over 300 fully certified Youth Climate Ambassadors, representing 34 provinces across Indonesia. In 2023 alone, our Ambassadors independently trained over 8,500 people.
Yayasan Peta Bencana provides:
- Training modules on disaster awareness, preparedness, and risk reduction;
- Trainings to become a community preparedness instructor so ambassadors can train younger students and their local community;
- Materials and activity plans to host campaigns and social events to motivate peers to prepare in case of a disaster;
- Microgrants to support youth-led disaster awareness and preparedness activities in their localities;
- Skill-building workshops, led by experts on a variety of topics, to support leadership, activism, and campaign development;
- Connection with network of peers in Indonesia, and in the region, to make lasting connections with the next generation of empowered youth leaders.
