For nearly a decade, Disaster Map Foundation (Yayasan Peta Bencana) has developed open-source technologies that help communities, governments, humanitarian organizations, and researchers access and share real-time disaster information. Today, our platforms support millions of people and have become trusted digital infrastructure for disaster resilience in Indonesia, the Philippines and beyond.
As we enter our next chapter, we are exploring how open digital infrastructure can be stewarded as a long-term public good, remaining resilient, trusted, and impactful as it grows.
To help answer this question, we are seeking an Advisor for Institutional Sustainability & Growth to work alongside our leadership team as we design the next phase of Yayasan Peta Bencana. This is a voluntary advisory position for someone who is excited by the challenge of building institutions that create lasting public value.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The advisor will provide high-level strategic guidance to the Director and leadership team as Disaster Map Foundation (Yayasan Peta Bencana) evolves its long-term institutional model. This role will help us explore how philanthropy, strategic partnerships, mission-aligned earned revenue, governance, and innovation can work together to sustain open digital infrastructure for decades to come. The Advisor will act as a trusted thought partner, providing perspective, constructive challenge, and strategic guidance during a period of organizational transition.
EXPERIENCE
We are looking for someone with experience in several of the following areas:

Building or scaling mission-driven organizations, social enterprises, or public-interest initiatives.

Developing strategic partnerships across philanthropy, government, academia, or the private sector.

Designing sustainable funding or business models that combine grants, earned revenue, partnerships, or other financing approaches.

Organizational strategy and institutional development.

Navigating periods of organizational growth or transformation.

Risk management and long-term organizational sustainability.
-
Climate, humanitarian, civic technology, or social impact sectors.
WHAT YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE
Working closely with the Director and leadership team, you will help us:
- Refine our long-term institutional strategy.
- Explore sustainable organizational and funding models.
- Identify strategic opportunities and partnerships.
- Challenge assumptions and provide independent strategic advice.
- Connect us, where appropriate, with people and organizations that could strengthen our mission.
COMMITMENT
This is a voluntary, non-remunerated position. The expected commitment is approximately 1–2 hours bimonthly, including:
- Informal conversations with the Executive Director as needed.
- Strategic introductions where appropriate.
- Occasional review of strategic documents or proposals.
The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal by mutual agreement.
