Foundation

Established in 2017, Yayasan Peta Bencana [Disaster Map Foundation] is an Indonesian-based non-profit organization.

We are committed to empowering communities worldwide to collectively respond to and mitigate the impacts of the climate emergency.

Since 2017, we have been building and maintaining one of the largest open source softwares for climate adaptation, now serving over 350 million people in South and South East Asia. We run the platforms PetaBencana.id in Indonesia, MapaKalamidad.ph in the Philippines, and AafatInfo.pk in Pakistan.

We address the climate emergency by developing open digital infrastructure for community-led adaptation efforts; we also coordinate the social engagement strategies and outreach processes that enable hundreds of local organizations to work together for change. We center the knowledge, capacities, and concerns of the most affected people in the equatorial region as we collectively build tools that empower every resident to participate in disaster recovery and risk reduction, decentralize emergency response, and democratize decision support tools.  By placing the power of data in the hands of communities, we believe that technology can be harnessed to encourage collective and proactive approaches to disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.
